Complimentary SMI Knowledge Leadership Event – 16 April

The Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI) brings you a thought provoking event on achieving economic development through social entrepreneurship.

With increasing societal and government expectations placed on mining companies to deliver positive legacies in mining regions, new insights, knowledge and strategies
are required to ensure long-term sustainable outcomes are created for communities impacted by mining.

SMI and UQ Business School invite you to an evening with world renowned Enterprise Facilitator, Dr Ernesto Sirolli.

Dr Sirolli will discuss his unique approach to local development based on facilitating the transformation of good local ideas into viable businesses. Thought leaders from The University of Queensland will join a panel discussion on the topic, sharing insights from their research and experience working with local communities, social entrepreneurs and the resources sector.

Keynote speaker: Dr Ernesto Sirolli

Dr Sirolli is the Chairman and CEO of the Sirolli Institute, an organisation which works in the field of local economic development and corporate social responsibility. For over 30 years Dr Sirolli has developed a unique system to
allow communities to harness the creative and economic forces of entrepreneurship. Working with the resources sector in 4 continents he assists in addressing their Social License to Operate. The Sirolli Institute has worked with companies such as BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Minerals Council of Australia, Newmont, Goldcorp as well as various State and Federal governments.

Dr Sirolli has authored a book “Ripples from the Zambezi – Passion, Entrepreneurship and the Rebirth of the local Economy” which documents his successful Enterprise Facilitation approach.
