AMSA’s Golden Jubilee conference and celebrations on the Gold Coast from 7 – 11 July 2013. AMSA held its inaugural conference in 1963 – 50 years later we will celebrate five decades of our vibrant society and the successes in the marine sciences in Australia. The past fifty years of marine science in Australia have brought exciting discoveries, challenges to the marine environment triggering new research questions, developments in technology, data sharing and modelling, as well as world class marine research infrastructure.
AMSA is the premier professional society for marine sciences in Australia, and the annual conferences are highlights for showcasing excellent research and for networking with colleagues. AMSA embraces all fields of marine science and has grown concurrent with the growth of marine sciences in the country.
At this Jubilee conference, we seek to highlight achievements in marine sciences in Australia, demonstrate the current state of knowledge, reflect on global perspectives, evaluate long-term data series, look at lessons from historical ecology, and explore how well we are equipped with knowledge, human and technical capabilities to address future research needs.
We look forward to your participation in Shaping the Future at AMSA’s Golden Jubilee conference on the Gold Coast in 2013.
