Between 4-10 October World Space Week is being celebrated. The Cosmos Centre and Observatory at Charleville, which is located on Cunnamulla Rd, near the Charleville airport, will be open for night viewing of the stars and planets. During the day there is a theatre presentation, seven interactive displays and two mini talks – an update on the latest discoveries in the Solar System and a meteorite talk where the collection is taken out of the cabinet for you to hold. Special programmes arranged for groups and schools. Sun viewing is also available through the telescopes (bookings essential).

Hours: High season (April to October): observatory opens every night (bookings essential). Daytime centre open daily 10am – 4pm.
Low season (November to March): observatory open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights (bookings essential). Daytime centre open Monday – Saturday 10am – 4pm.
Cost: General observatory session from $28 adult, $62 family (2+2), $26 senior or student.
